I love every element of my job –from bridal hair, to daily cuts, to TV commercials, and red carpet events, all the way through to avant garde fashion shoots. I create natural looks, to sleek looks, to intricate updos, and I work with wigs and sculptures too. Even with my many years of experience, my knowledge, skills and natural talents combined, I still know the huge benefit in continuing my learning, and now I also learn through my teaching…
I have always been a natural teacher, and was an educator for Balmain years ago, and I also write tutorials for blogs and magazines… I bring other hairstylist some of my skill set and tips via my Habia approved CPD courses held on certain dates at my home-based studio.
In this industry you need to constantly give your clients exactly what they want, as well as offering them advice and creative options. I learn about hair every day, and stay abreast of trends and new products, and I throw a lot of my earnings back into my business, and enjoy sharing my passion with other people including my students. Even though I have all of this to offer, it is really important to me to support fellow stylists, including my own assistants, and the best way I could do this was to take the time and effort to compile a course worthy of accreditation. It adds more creditability to what I have to offer, and has an incentive for my students too, because they receive 21 CPD hours for attending the three-day courses. Having these courses approved by the hair and beauty industry authority shows that I really care about the industry and that I have put the effort in as a trainer to give my students the highest quality learning experience possible.
My students learn both the theory and practice of how to achieve wedding hair or editorial hair with emphasis on client safety and satisfaction, as well as developing and perfecting their technique.
Habia helped me ensure I fulfilled the relevant criteria to create a beneficial and balanced structure to my certified courses. This means that my students can provide clients with new and exciting styles, an outstanding service, as well as implement other tips and skills they have picked-up from me. Students need to have relevant Level 2 or equivalent qualifications, and knowledge and/or experience within the hair industry, in order to attend my CPD Habia accredited courses, which means I know that the students have a good foundation of skill and knowledge, so they can really benefit from what I teach them.
Even though I am the one teaching others, I am constantly learning in order to provide fresh techniques, and so I am also practising what I preach – continuing to learn more about my trade!
